ULI: China Real Estate Markets 2012 research

The Urban Land Institute Asia Pacific recently release their Mainland China Real Estate Markets 2012 report. This report looked at real estate development and investment prospects in the coming 12 months for 28 Mainland China cities. The top 28 cities represent not only first and second tier cities but also a number of third and fourth tier.

The report finds the top-rated cities for investment in the coming 12 months are Chengdu, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wuhan and Shenzhen. The reports are available for download from the ULI:

Office options: Coworking

Following on from our introduction to traditional office space and serviced office space, we will now look at coworking space options.

Coworking space tends to be more informal than a serviced office and is characterised by open-plan office space, an informal community of ‘coworkers’ and very short-term options from as little as a day.

Below is a list of coworking spaces in Hong Kong. Let us know if you have other spaces to add to the list.

As coworking spaces tend to be more open-plan its best to keep loud conversations to a minimum and respect other workers. Its important to keep in mind that others are there to work and won’t appreciate your extended loud phone calls. Many coworking spaces will have a meeting room or private area which you can make use of.

Office options: Serviced Office

Previously we looked at traditional office spaces. Serviced offices or Business Centres are one of the alternatives to traditional offices. Read more about comparing office space with Serviced offices here.

A Serviced office typically involves a private, lockable office with 1-10 workstations plus access to a range of common amenities such as coffee area, meeting rooms, secretarial support, reception and an informal lounge or drop-in area. Also sharing these common facilities will be other companies leasing serviced offices. The number of individual offices in a single business centre can range from around 10 up to as many as 80. Typically, but not always, a business centre will occupy an entire floor of the building.
